Tip for Stained Breeches: If you have a pair of light colored breeches that were purchased for show, but have since become too stained to be seen in public (or maybe you just don't like wearing them in public because they are... light colored breeches!), try dying them a darker color (this will work for grungy square saddle pads too). They can then be used as schooling breeches. I know this works well for Clarino patches, but am not sure what it would do for leather.

If you find most helmets uncomfortable, you may have more of a round head. I have been informed by a round headed friend that Troxels are torture deviced for her. She recommend the Tipperary (see the product review page for a full review).
